Many of my clients have been asking… “where is the best place to print my new photos?” Welp, here’s your answer!
Truth be told, there’s no where I can recommend that’s a “consumer style” print lab ( like Walgreens, Shutterfly, etc). It’s insane to say it, but all these discount print labs are pretty poor, and I fear you guys don’t know it. Because I didn’t know it. This is why I’ve chosen to start offering high quality print services, including gallery wrapped canvases, large prints, keychains, photo books, and more!
As your photographer, I want you to be proud of your pictures and love them. That’s why I do what I do. I want you to SAVE money by not having to re-print your photos after they’ve faded or the color has tinted. I want you to feel good displaying them in your home. Not to mention, why get a bad end result and horrible looking photos, when you’ve spent so much time and money getting your family ready for the session???? (Buying clothes, doing hair, the fight with Hubby over missing the 1st quarter of the big game because the need for sunset photos at 6 PM)
When you go to a lab like Shutterfly, the lab tries to color correct, crop, scale to fit, and adjust the exposure on my photos….after it’s already been done through my editing process, when I convert an image from .RAW to .JPEG.
I work with a professional photographers lab, who deals exclusively with professional photographers. There is no need for any sort of color correction or adjustment, as my computer settings are always in line with those of the printing lab.
I’m not going to lie to you, it costs more to get prints from a high quality printing lab. It’s one of those classic cases of “you get what you pay for”. If you want to buy an 8×10 from Shutterfly, I get it. I’ve been there, and I’m not judging. But please, don’t have “Mommy” (or Daddy) goggles and think “wow this picture is so beautiful”, when in actuality it really looks green, yellow, or blurry. Not to mention, it hurts my reputation when you tell people I took the photo, when in actuality it’s distorting the art I’ve created, and it’s really not my true photo…. (Yep, I said it, I’m an art-eest!)
Anyway, this isn’t a shameless plug to get you to buy your prints through me. Maybe a little bit? At least do some research on who’s the best printer for you…. 🙂
NOT MY IMAGE. Look left. That’s the true color, from a pro lab. Right is from Shutterfly.
Those people look like ALIENS! This is a photo example from my print lab.
